Colonial heritage, reimagined for slow living.
Discover the history and philosophy of Hailsham Bungalow, a tranquil tropical oasis tucked in the historic suburbs of Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.

“A restored relic where colonial character meets tropical ease.”
The Spirit of Isuru Mawatha
Established as a peaceful residence in Kotte, the villa was crafted to celebrate the region's historic architectural roots. Featuring soaring high ceilings, columns, and classic cooling layout systems, it represents the colonial architecture that defines vintage Sri Lankan countryside homes.
In early 2026, the bungalow underwent a meticulous restoration. The goal was simple: preserve its antique charm while installing modern luxury elements like air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a state-of-the-art outdoor swimming pool.
Today, Hailsham operates as a boutique homestay, welcoming digital nomads, couples, and families from all over the world who want to experience the administrative capital without the overwhelming traffic and noise of central Colombo.
A Sanctuary for Nature & Wildlife
Due to our location in a low-density suburb, the villa gardens act as a biological pocket attracting various local birds and wildlife.
Avian Paradise
Watch parrots, sunbirds, and Sri Lankan woodshrikes feed in the gardens. Early mornings at Hailsham are accompanied by a beautiful natural chorus of birds.
Tropical Flora
The bungalow grounds are surrounded by massive coconut palm trees, frangipani blossoms, local wood orchids, and herbal garden borders.
